Congratulations Eddie, you are the User of the Week!
If someone sends me something, I am going to take it. I’m up for anything. Especially if it’s something I have never done before. If you have a challenge no one will try and need someone to give it a go….send it my way. I may not be able to get to it right away, but I will give it a shot. I’m still working on getting the 8 minute wall squat down my wife sent me…it’s been months now. I think instead of finding motivation to click “Take” it is the clicking “Take” that lends to the motivation. So thank you to everyone who keeps sending them to me, and keep ‘em coming.
Do you keep active with your kids? Are they getting involved with that torturous wall squat?
My girls love to "exercise" with me. Sometimes they attempt to do as I am doing and other times they help me...such as they will crawl onto my back when I am doing push ups....you know..helpful things like that. They are very active and a lot of fun. They like to go on "adventures," which is running around pretending that we are superheroes, explorers or magic fairies (and yes I get to be a fairy too, and I have the power of fire so don't give me no lip about it)...etc...
The last 10K I found I entered them into a 1/4 mile run and they loved it. They can't wait to do another. I keep looking. As for the 8 minute wall squat attempts....yeah, they get bored and they end up thinking my legs are good places to climb up on or sit on, or basically anything that makes the challenge even more challenging.
You've got loads of different types of push ups in your achievements - from knuckle to finger tips, which do you find the toughest? (Not including those with your daughters on your back!)
The fingertip push ups are tough for me simply due to my fingers not really wanting to hold up my weight. I really like some of the push up challenges as I do them regularly, but would get bored with them without constantly changing them up a bit.

The Drool Trail half marathon is your own personal race (13.1 miles with big omelette at the end instead of a medal!) - have you signed up to any organised events or do you prefer to solo challenge?
Holy cow! I didn't even remember that "Drool Trail" thing. I am thinking I need to run that Drool Trail again. Give me a big omelette any day……any time of day. Throw in some pancakes too and some bacon. I do almost all of my challenges solo. I would love to be involved in more organized events, but I may be the only one that runs in this area. If farming were a sport then I would be surrounded by athletes, but not a lot of people doing much outside of that. It’s difficult to locate organized events here, and when I do they seem to clash with my work schedule. I’ve been pondering changing to a career that is more suitable…..maybe a rock star or something like that.
You've said: "If I could, I would thank everyone of you that I have connected with on here for the support and motivation, in person. Maybe take a quick jog in your neighborhood to see what your runs are like." So which neighborhood is first on your hit list?
I am originally from Alaska, so I am used to beautiful scenery. Lots of mountains, rivers, lakes, trees, trails, beaches, etc… So while I would love to run in the North West here on the North American Continent…Australia has some great looking places as does New Zealand, many places in the British Isles…….all over Europe….It’s difficult to choose.
Every time I see the pictures posted by different TS members I want to go see it in person. I have been quite fascinated with the Bruce Trail in Canada, somewhere around 885km. It is full of amazing waterfalls and some excellent scenery. Especially as we are coming up on the fall months…..I imagine the foliage would just be unimaginably wonderful. I think that would be my first choice. It’s long enough to keep me occupied for a good duration.
Your trail running photos from Alaska are pretty epic, will you be gathering some new ones from Kansas' famous landscapes (flying houses/red heels/small dogs - did we miss any?)
I love Alaska. I wish I was back there every day.
One of the perks of running so early in the morning here in Kansas is that it's too dark to see where I am. I did take some pictures of the lovely landscape. It is of the sun rising. I took the pictures in 5 minute increments to show how quickly the sun rises here.
Thankfully I have not had to be involved with the flying dogs, houses, witches and so forth. It would be pretty awesome if Brooks would make me a pair of sparkly red Ghost 5's to run in. I wonder if anyone would get it. ....and yes, you did miss something! The flying monkeys! How could you forget the flying monkeys? Okay, if I see any flying monkeys, it will make being here all worthwhile.
What's your next big Challenge going to be?
It’s a toss-up right now between a follow up to the 5 person relay and a similar challenge incorporating swimming and biking for a tri challenge. I’m waiting for my hip to heal though so I can participate. There is no way that I would miss participating in them.
What's your favourite quote?
Lance Armstrong: Quit? You know, once I was thinking about quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer, all at the same time. But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and I won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I'm sure you have a good reason to quit. So what are you dying from that's keeping you from the finals?
Well, I guess if a person never quit when the going got tough, they wouldn't have anything to regret for the rest of their life. But good luck to you Peter. I'm sure this decision won't haunt you forever.
