The wall squat is a great exercise to strengthen the legs and buttocks and is often used as training for skiers and power-lifters. This is a brilliant exercise to do on the go, few spare minutes in a lift or when watching TV, especially if you fancy a stretch out during the ad breaks.

Put your quadriceps strength/ endurance to the test and hold a static (isometric) squat against a wall for 5 minutes. To perform a wall squat you need to slide down the wall and ‘sit’ with your knees bent at a 90 degree angle.

Music for longer wall squats works for me.....zone into music and forget legs!!!! Also doing several short ones close together will help towards staying down for longer! :) :)

I recommend the use of distraction, I took a phone call halfway through this challenge, and as there was no way I was doing it ever again,I had to keep my voice steady and continue to hold it together, it actually helped

In the past I've attempted to read but that's no good for me as I'm easily distracted - instead I decided to watch a Youtube video, thinking it was the trailer of a new film I'm keen to see but turned out it was just one of those fan-made mash ups (most distressing!!).
