[1.5lb more or if I weighed 1lb less !!!] - ahhh well, try again next week ;-)

Russell S Bench press 150% of your bodyweight Challenge

Contributorsilver Russell S This is going to be a really challenge, need some long term training for this one. Currently weighing in at 88kg so need to bench 132kg. Ok think i need to lose weight to complete this one.

Losing weight isnt much fun so just get stronger. Bench 2x per week, 1 heavy session working up to 3x5 reps then to 3x3 reps with assistance pushing exercise such as incline Db press, weight dips in the 6-8rep range. 2nd bench session of speed work. 5x5 reps (not 5rep max) all reps should be explosive. Assistance work of Heavy pulling - weight pullups/chin ups, 1 arm rows, seated rows and heavy tricep work - CG bench, cable extensions. There should of course also be squatting & deadlifting in your weeks program to develop max strength.

Thanks for the advice Tom. I will try and follow your training programme and let you know how i'm progressing. My 1 rep max at the moment is 110kg, so a bit of work to do.
