Marco F Well, I have been going one or two trips and catching a few big seabass, but I would like to go 5 trips in a row and catch a nice one. These fish have all been near or over 50 lbs, and have already spawned this season, at least once! The fish that I keep are all cared for with the upmost respect and shared with my close friends and family... Even the skeleton is used to make soup, or marinated and grilled and the meat is picked off between the bones, the head is used to make soup or stock, and the guts, skin and other unusable parts are returned to the ocean to feed the fish, crabs and lobsters in the waters off the coast, or buried to provide nutrients to the fruit and vegetables in my yard... This is a photo of my most recent catch, a 55 lb White Seabass, about a mile offshore. We go and catch live squid, and then use them for bait to catch the Seabass. The fish off the California coast are some of the most regulated fish in the world, have very healthy stocks and I would not fish for them if they were not... I will be up at 4am to try to get my first fish of the 5 trips...
Julien T encouraged this.
