“as i was in italy time was runningout to get to slovenia so i really had to put the legs down and for three days in a row with 12 kilos in touring equiptment i managed to do over 100 miles each day. it wasnt easy but had to be done ( i was paying for it with a week of cramp and mental exaushton ) but better now lol !!!1”

Do all those that claim there going to attempt this on a fixed gear bike realise how long it would take you, 100 miles is not for the fair hearted. Even on a proper Road bike with a decent riding ability your look...
Ben W Already done a number of 100's, last one was the Dragon Ride 2012 Gran Fondo. Ended up at around 130 miles on the clock.

Thanks for the great responses, I will almost certainly be doing it on 18:42 and 700c wheels (might need some wider tyres for comfort). I think I might do a 100 km first. I think the longest ride I have done was 85 m...

I really want to have a good crack at this challenge but wonder if I am scuppering my chances with one gear. What is your weapon of choice for a century ride? For those that have done it how long did it take and what was the terrain like?
Caro B I Cycled 102 miles on 29 May with Lavinia and Jane. We cycled from Richmond to Windsor, Henly and Marlow. It took me 7.5 hours
