It was a lot easier to do the crab exercise as a kid, can you do it now? Practising the crab position will to stretch several areas of the upper and lower body improving flexibility and also strengthens muscles in the arms, legs and back, which are working to hold the position.

To complete the challenge, hold the crab position for 30 seconds. The back must be facing the ground, with the legs bent and raising the back off the floor, and arms extended straight backwards for support. Only the feet and hands are to be in contact with the floor.

Do the Crab Challenge rules

  1. You gotta get high with arms straight or just about.
  2. Hold for at least 30 seconds

Contributorbronze Marlo W Having my boys do it like it's nothing. did it but I think this should be a daily for me for a while!! And yes it feels so good to stretch those vertebrate. First a pain then a lot of relief. Don't realize how much tension you hold til you get rid of some of it!

Contributorsilver Wish J Same here, I never did it for several years. Tried it today, and said to myself are you kidding me. It so hard now. But things got better in time. What a stretch for lower abdomin and back :)

Beki J Do the Crab Challenge

I am not trained in Yoga Velmurugan, so I do not know better on this one.

It's not my back strength, it's pushing my self up with my arms, I am fine pushing me weight from the front, (i.e. press ups) but this is new to me

downward dog, and any that are similar but have you on all 4's facing the ground. Many yoga positions are mirror images of each other. pushups help with wrist tension and strength also! good luck!
