Run a 10k in under one hour

If you are a beginner runner, or running your first 10k, and want to add a time goal to your run then this is the challenge for you. Aim to run a 10k in under 60 minutes in order to complete this challenge. Try it at a race, on the treadmill, or even when training on the streets.

Istvan L Run a 10k in under one hour Challenge
I went out for a 6km run. Then an inner voice told me I can run around 8k, which would've been the longest run in my life anyway. When I looked at the GPS data I saw 8.5k already, so then my inner voice said even louder: you didn't know until now, but this is the day when you'll run double digits for the first time in your life. Well, at 9.5 the other inner voice also started to talk to me saying: "you will stop, you will stop", and it did win - at exactly 10.050 meters:)

Allyballydoodlealltheday H Run a 10k in under one hour Challenge
I am absolutely elated with this run, not a fantastic time and haven't completed the 10k in the required time but I am getting there but good distance and more elated because a great deal of it was up hill and what prob slowed me down some but so pleased with myself, but I will get there in the end and looking at another way I am getting so much fitter while I am trying :)

Thank you so much, I need to be more consistent with my running ....but at the moment I am trying to keep the training going but I am in the process of packing up to move home so difficult to keep it all going at once, so keeping the strength training going just no as much running .... :)

Not my best time .....but as well as my time my splits/pace where 8.13per min I think it might have something to do with the 400 jumping jacks I did last night before I went to bed that slowed me down my legs felt really heavy today , if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can last longer on my runs I would be extremely grateful I am trying to extend gradually but finding it hard .....I really want to do this half Marathon in May next year 2014 and need to get this right so please HELP!!!!!!

I think anyone is suited to it. but you are right if you can't get in that place that makes you push yourself that little bit harder then you just keep going on what you can do what you body and mind is capable of ....it doesn't matter how far as long as you feel good about how far you did go ...... try not to think of it psychologically and make it more about I really feel like a run today cos its that sort of day make it less about a must do and more about a want to do, my first runs were on the treadmill and then I extended that to outside and really happy that I did but at first i could never have done it outside ....maybe treadmill will work better for you .... :) good luck with any of your challenges :)
