Running 5k in under 30 minutes is the first time for distance goal you should be working towards as a beginner runner. Some might be able to do it first time round but for most newcomers it might take a little bit of training before you can run a 5k.
Run a 5k in under 30 minutes Challenge rules
“slow time for 5.6km today 29:23 min ,legs where stiff from work kneeling on concrete all day but did the time , always good to get out. Goal SPEED UP!!!”

:( Don't know if it's from running so early or from me eating crappy food but I seem to be getting slower and having a really hard time this week.
I still struggle with distance but have noticed my pace got better when I actually tried to slow it down a but ... I started getting more distance making the overall pace better.

Obviously this challenge was a little TOO easy for you....lol
It's not that easy, Tracey! Truth be told, that's the furthest i have ever run so far. Maybe i got this one because i tried to accomplish another challenge, the "Run 2.5km without walking". Anyway good luck completing this challenge :)

Went to the OC Color Run today. I recommend this to everyone! It's so fun and you get some good exercise. I'm no where near where I'd like to be as far as time is concerned, but it's definitely a good start. Definitely doing this again next year!

There is talk of a colour run (actually it is a run or due event) coming to my city. My question for you is with the concern of breathing in those colour powders that runners run through.

Starting somewhere! I'm hoping to consistently beat this time from now on, but I know the humidity and heat are about to pick up here in Louisiana. NOT looking forward to how that will affect my times.

Try incorporating short "fast" runs into your week. Run 5km once per week, then run 2km and 1km as fast as you can on another 2 days during the week. Doing these short fast runs will help build your cardio. You ne...
Di N answered the question Woah! Don't you have to be an advanced runner to do that?
The first 5k I did at 62 yr old after 4 weeks training was 32 mins. I was relatively fit as I had done a lot of walking, but absolutely no running.
