Regent's Canal in London runs from Little Venice, just north of Paddington Basin in the west, through north London to meet the Thames at Limehouse in the east. This challenge is to run the full length of the the canal, in either direction. The total distance is approximately 15km, and is pretty easy to follow as it's an almost continuous towpath from one end to the other. The only complicated part of the route is near Angel, where the canal goes through a tunnel and the path ends. You'll need to cut through Islington and meet the canal at the other end of the tunnel (it's worth checking the route on a map).
The route is a great way to see some interesting parts of London - the canal meanders across the top of Regent's Park past London Zoo, runs through Camden Town beside the famous market, then cuts just north of the new St Pancras International station, through Angel, then east past Broadway Market, Victoria Park, finishing up at Limehouse on the Thames. If you want to reward yourself at the end of this challenge, there are some really nice pubs for lunch in Limehouse.

Claire P I really want to do this challenge, but I don't live in London and I don't go there very often. Next time I'm coming to London should be to run the British 10 k, which means I will not have time to do that run... I remember walking all along the canal and back one day and I enjoyed it very much. That's why I'm hoping I'll be able to run this challenge soon.

Andrew M Right then, the date that most people could do was Wednesday 30th May, so lets take this challenge then. More people have expressed a preference to start east (at Limehouse basin) and run west to Little Venice. To allow people time to get over there, I would suggest meeting at Limehouse basin at 6:45, and starting to run at 7pm. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make the run – the stitches in my leg may pop out. I would love to meet up with you guys so if there is an end gathering point for post run refreshments let me know and I will be there.
I'm trying to get somebody to look after stuff, but as yet have been unsuccessful, so you'd probably be better to leave it at work I'm afraid. I think we'll try to run as a group as much as we can at an easy pace, although people are welcome to run on or drop back if they want.

Completed this challenge yesterday evening with @steve, @arnaud, @nikos, @benwg and @stuartknipe with support from @jenna, @joe and @johanna. Managed a time of 1:14, which works out as marginally above 5 mins per kilometer, so I'm really happy with my pace. Next up, the Summer solstice 10km 2011

No, I live quite near the Made by Many offices, so I called home for a quick shower and got there at about 10pm. Seems the party was only just getting going by that time anyway!
@andrew had to shower and change - his nipples rubbed on the run, and he'd bled through his t-shirt!
