Nin M Day 7
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is a great way to build additional fitness training into a daily schedule. If you work in a high-rise, see how many flights you can take before having to use the elevator. Great for legs and glutes!
Take the stairs every day for a month instead of an elevator. Challenge rules
“I do this almost always, even when in London at Leicester Square tube station with hundreds if not thousands of stairs to climb I would use the stairs, its a no brainer, environmentally friendly bonus workout, no membership fees. ”

Dan L answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
Impact is what is really bad for the knees, so I would worry more about being careful going *down* the stairs too fast. *If* stair climbing is your only leg exercise (or all exercises work the same muscle groups),...
Andrew F answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
The muscles around your knee need to be strong in order to keep your knee in proper alignment. As long as you build up to the challenge, going to hard to early will cause damage. If you can do the 16 flights of stairs...
Terri L encouraged this.
Tamara A answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
I agree with Amita, 16 flights of stairs is really not dangerous, may be daunting at first but not dangerous! The "nay sayers" are probably out of shape & overweight hiding behind excuses.
Amita P answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
theres nothing wrong with walking up 16 floors, if anything this will help strengthen the area around your knees
Eunice Y encouraged this.
Abhishek B answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
My knees doesnt hurt, but I have heard people saying not to do it for too long or it will not be good for knees... Just wanted to make sure about that before starting this challenge.
Beckie L answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
Well if your knees start to hurt after walking up and down the stairs then I would say not to do it. But other then that you can.
Mark C encouraged this.
Tony G answered the question Isn't it bad for the knees?
Knees have been aroun a damned sight longer then lifts.
