Jane H Take to the Trails Challenge

Contributorgold Jane H I ran trails at Dandenong Ranges National Park (home of the Kokoda 1000 Steps). I ran/walked 13.43km in 1:31:09. It was a beautiful Autumn morning, with the sun filtering through the tree canopy.

Matthew S Take to the Trails Challenge

Stattobronze Matthew S logged 5.05 km of Running in 0:37:17 on 3 Mar
So I finally made it out into the wild frontier, since the biggest challenge is not being able to have my wife accompany me,(she doesn't run, but does Nordic walking) with our older Parson Russel terrier, Cookie who happens to be blind. There is no way to expect her to maintain even a slow pace and my wife does not like to walk alone in the forest, really can't blame her since the wild boar are starting to look for food and come ever closer to towns, so taking a through the woods can become quite suprising. Although on Sunday mornings this area of the forest is flooded with city folk who come out with their families to enjoy a little nature and fresh air.
I ran along the supposedly 5km running trail and as I always guessed and my Garmin proved the course is 500m short, but what the heck it is a nice run. It is alot more work to concentrate on sure footing amongst the moss covered sandstone and roots, part of the run passes around what used to be a Celtic fortification that is over 2000 years old, the archeologists have resumed researching there for the past decade as funding is available so it really is a interesting course.

Margaret L Take to the Trails Challenge

Contributorsilver Margaret L I put on my new trail shoes today and went for a 11.2k run including some off road running for the first time. I really enjoyed it - got really muddy! Need to get in a bit more training for a 5 mile trail race on 23rd December.

Andy B Take to the Trails Challenge

Contributorgold Andy B This was a fairly easy as almost all my running is off road trailrunning, single track or prepared trails even rock hopping and mud plugging in our local quaries! I find road miles very dull in comparison!

Rick P encouraged this.

Hazel C Take to the Trails Challenge

Contributorsilver Hazel C I ran my first ever off-road race today - Mad Jack's Five at Attingham Park nr Shrewsbury. 5 miles - hard work but great especially having to wade through mud and water. I might be hooked ;-)

Off road racing is a slog but you feel brilliant running about in the wild! I did my first 'proper' one the other month - and yep, very very muddy! :-) Well done, and if you find others you're going to enter you could post them as Challenges!

Hazel C encouraged this.
