This will help develop balance, don't raise arms above the head if you have high blood pressure or if you haven't done this before, hands in prayer position is just fine. Rest your foot wherever it feels comfortable but avoid resting it against directly on the knee joint.
Hold for 8-12 breaths and keep smiling.

“I first did it with open eyes holding for 12 breaths and then with closed eyes as long as possible. In the beginning when I tried with my eyes closed I couldn't stay for a second in the position but later on I could stay holding for 5 breaths... I'll start it over :)”
