The recommende frequency for beginner strength trainers is 3 times a week, alternated with cardio workouts on the same frequency.

A soupcon of common sense might be appropriate here. Yes push through the "I'm tired and want to stop now" thoughts.  But don't push through "this is sore" resulting in long term injury and major training set backs.

RICE is the best prescription for twists, sprains and strains.  That's: REST - don't use the inflamed area for a while ICE - ice it COMPRESSION - use a compression bandage ELEVATION - sit with your leg up
