Chris...drills is the answer to re teach your body how to do things and remap new patterns of movements in your brain. Have a look at some of the videos posted in the Tribe and see what you think. Your breathing will improve while doing the drills and they ll all become second nature.
And yes you have to be patient, changing your gait and re learning things could take a long time, I would say that you usually see the results depending on your training after 6 months. But by that time you will feel you are running more efficiently and stronger.
