Varieties of Exercise?

Suppose you get a running injury.  What are all the sorts of aerobic exercise you might engage in instead, while you're waiting for the injury to heal?  Swimming is an obvious choice.  What else would be a good alternative?  (Since it'll depend on which sort of injury is incurred, feel free to simply choose one and then list the alternative forms of exercise.)

Also things like kettlebells if you need to keep your feet planted. Really works cardio and core but protects the knees. Just make sure you keep you back straight.
