Protein Bars

In the interests of science, research, sports nutrition and general greediness, I am currently trying out a whole host of different protein bars.

Personally, despte my best endeavours, I cannot consume the quantity of protein I need each day - working on 1g of protein per 1lb of body weight.  I have shakes, I eat meat, nuts, yoghurt etc., and I love protein bars.  However, not all protein bars are made with 'health' in mind and are quite hefty on calories and carbs.

So, with this in mind, I am in search of a low carb, high protein, tasty protein bar that is not stuffed full of artificial shite.  If I can find a commercial bar, all to the good, however, I know I will end up making my own and so I am search of some really good recipes.

If you have any recipes or suggestions, please advise, I will try them  ALL (in the interests of research obv!).

Yes I like the protein plus bars also - but as you say pricy for an everyday.  I might be tempted to do a spreadsheet (I know sad!) with nutritional content, price, taste and an extra column for the little 'extra's they give you - some cause flatulance and others GM ingredients.

Trek bars are fab, get them at holland and Barrett. Full of good stuff.

I would love to make my own, lactose free ones

Jax, Andie in Swansea has been making protein bars which she brought to the Pen-y-fan last week and seemed to go down well with fellow FFers. I didn't try them cos I can't stand peanut butter. I think she FB'd me the recipe, I'll go find. I think she said they freeze well too, so you can make a batch up in advance.

Sounds good.  I will make them, taste them and add the results to my spreadsheet!  I eat peanut butter from a spoon....

I enjoy Protien Bars as well, I always loved the "Supreme" Brand. But bars are expensive in general.  I like the concept of home made (especially since I eat Paleo now )  I also add liquid Egg Whites to my shake for added protien.
