Not only will you feel good after, but you will also look good during the exercises. Ballet is about strength, presentation and control of your body, not just being flexible and throwing your arms and legs about.

Jun Yi L Just a simple tip that I found somewhere in the past: Weights build bulk. The way to build strength without bulk is to use your own weight against yourself, for example, push ups or sit ups.
I found this a while back: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/44/60/ff/4460ff671bf50163d4a90ef81b9162f8.jpg I hope it helps!

Simone S answered the question What stretches would you recommend to get into splits?

Jun Yi L answered the question If you haven't done Ballet in a while would you start in beginner?
How have your classes been going, Bella? I've only just seen this question now, but if it were me, I would have just joined a basic class one step up from beginners, just to get the technique right again. After many...

I just posted up a guide on stretching towards the splits. I hope this helps!
While I don't think just being able to do the splits makes you a ballet dancer, it sure helps to be flexible while you're building the strength up to hold your leg high in the air.
I found this handy guide on getting your body ready for the split...
Jun Yi L I recently downloaded an iPad app called Sworkit. It mixes different combos of all sorts of training exercises, like full body stretching, yoga, cardio and strength exercises. What I like about it is you can choose how much time you have, or want to spend on it. I just do 10-minute exercises at intervals throughout the day (I work at home) and I feel that I'm at least doing some sort of training for my body if I'm not at dance class. If you don't have a regular fitness routine, this might be something nice!
