Ciara, there is no right or wrong to put on barefooted shoes. If you having no arch, you still can buy barefooted shoes & buy additional arch sole stick them into your shoes. This will help you to wear your barefooted shoes whenever you run ;D

Glad to here it, I think the more you run even if it  is slow and low impact the joints develop against the arthritis, so the more often the less it develops! That's what I think anyway.

there are different models of VFF's specific to application... The Spydiron line-up is specifically made for off road use and has a piece of nylon guarding your arch (not supporting)....

I wear either my VFF's or my Huaraches... everywhere... this weekend I had to stuff my feet into "regular" shoes for a wedding, and I was MISERABLE... once you go Barefoot, theres no going back...

Chi Running; I found the book very enlightening.  Anyone just starting out running or one that has a difficult time at it; it is a must read.  Teaches running to be a more relaxing and less stressful sport.
