London has a large number of council-run, publicly-owned leisure centres. They don't advertise as much as the large gym chains, so it's sometimes easy to forget they exist. Most of them offer great facilities such as swimming pools, squash courts and hall areas suitable for netball, badminton, basketball, martial arts and many other sports. This tribe is for people to find out more about their local leisure centres and discover new sports to participate in.

Balham Leisure Centre is good, large gym area with plenty of machines.Like most gyms best avoided on Monday and Tuesday evenings... 25m pool with lanes which is good quality although you have to brave the mixed changing rooms!

I'm only counting the publicly accessible ones (i.e. not gyms like Fitness First), within the M25. Also, if anyone knows if there is a list of these anywhere, that would be even better.
