Sports Nutrition

SingleTrack magazine seem to have a great maxim describing their attitude towards fitness. I am paraphrasing but it boils down to "eat less crap and do more exercise". We all know it is important to eat a balanced diet and this tribe is an open forum to discuss the tastier side of sport. So without any further ado: chicken wings are supposed to be a good recovery meal, discuss...

Make a giant superfood salad - it can last a few days and is so delicious! I usually add bulgar wheat, red cabbage, peppers, green lentils, tomatoes, some broad beans (fresh or frozen), plus some toasted pumpkin seeds. Add a splash of red wine vin...

The theory is that when and what your macros comprise of is pretty much irrelevent as long as you meet minimum amounts? Then that's true. No real evidence of timing or compsostion has shown to rule. IF you actually eat the same caloric amounts.

Weight Watchers does not market them as integral to achieving weight loss and is in no way comparable to Slim Fast which is a over the counter diet replacement product.  Nutri System does have meals that you buy from them that are integral to thei...

Communicatorsilver Kara A replied to the topic "Diet" foods

Pre-packaged meals are pre-packaged for convenience and not for any other reason.  The diet industry markets a version that is for the folks who are not going to cook from scratch; and it is about portion control and transitioning to a more health...

Dextrose is just another carb. It's fine, you've been eating it in foods for years already.

Nicky C Sports Nutrition Tribe

Contributorbronze Nicky C ATTENTION all of you fitness buffs: I burn 600-1200 calories in the gym daily. On top of this, I am very active throughout my day and regularly burn 2900-3600 calories every day. I eat clean, I've cut out all sugar. I've put on lots of muscle and I know that muscles weighs more than fat but I kid you not, my scale has only gone down 4 pounds since April 1st. I see changes in my body but I'm definitely not seeing the results that I should be seeing. Any insight? Thank you!

I had similar issue, was cycling at least 3 times a week, swimming twice and running 3 times and for over a year lost absolutely no weight! went to see a dietician who put me on a low GI diet plan, regular low GI meals through the day and I have lost over 12kg in three months and my muscle % has stayed regular at 13.9%
