Hey. Going lower than 90 degrees is a good thing. Try for ATF (as to floor) with what ever weight you can add. Doing this you will be targeting your whole leg (except calf). Split squats are amazing for glutes ans are jump lunges or weighted walking lunges...

On a similar topic I had a bodybuilder friend who trained like an animal. Due to his high level of training he got used to being buckled pretty much all the time. He was simply massive. His pain tolerance was extremely high and he simply enjoyed the hard co...

My approach is to set the goal for the year, set some internediate quarterly goals and then plan the training and rest cycles around them. It gives me a framework and which some small changes are made here and there mostly it stays set. I review it all each...

Newest answer

Structured. Its best for goals and tracking progress. You will know what works and doesn't work. And I do the same, 3 month/quarterly training structure for the most part.

Firstly that's already a great number for a back squat. I want to ask though, what depth do you go to? Is it an ATG squat, or parrallel? I used to try to squat to parrellel but in truth was probably a bit higher - my PB for that was 160kg but it was a poor...

Deep Squats

Question • 2 answers

I struggle to mobilise up enough to get into a good deep squat when lifting.  Does anyone have any good exercises to get from 90* squat to a deep low squat?

Newest answer

Olympic shoes will help a lot. In terms of mobility go for hip openers and stretches, leg swings, lots of foam rolling and ankle mobility work too. Sitting in a deep squat and pushing your knees out with your elbows helps a lot too.

PAIN

Question • 11 answers

If the pain does not mitigates after 7 days of squatting with 1 day break, is there anything wrong?

Newest answer

I used to get pain in the lower legs when doing squats. Then I changed to a wider stance, and it didn't happen any more. So I think there are a lot of slightly different things you can do with squats – distance of feed apart, angle of feet, shoes or not – a...
