Tamara A answered the question Whats the best way to ease myself back into running after an injury?
Try aqua jogging or other deep water realted exercise, it provides impact free training & a good cardio can be had! Good luck! : )

Running is a total body workout, but some muscle groups are stressed more that others. This can create disparity in opposing muscle groups (e.g. quadriceps and hamstrings lack balance). Lack of parity in opposing muscle groups is one reason for injury. The Strength Training for Runners Tribe's purpose is to have its member collaborate and share experiences, workouts and challenges in strength training for running. If you participate in Strength Training for Running, and do the strength training exercises 2-3 times a week, you will see improvements in strength in total body, endurance in both upper and lower body (running as well as your arms while you are running), speed (you will shave time off your runs), flexibility, and you will be less prone to injury. A runners dream! But nothing comes free, you must put in the effort! The results will be well worth it! Please see Discussion section for my challenges. Stay healthy!
