I am an avid horse rider, love swimming, and love to read. Outdoors is my thing. My goal is to lose the 25 lbs I've gained from a horse riding accident that resulted in a broken back. Wish me Luck!

Two years ago I started this account and here's what I initially said: "Today is my first day on here. I've decided to take a couple challenges. My goal is to lose 25 lbs, tone up, and break some bad habits. Just under 2 years ago, I was in a horse riding accident which resulted in a broken back. My L-4, L-5 were broken, and my right hip was fractured. I walk with a pronounced limp on the right side, Since then, I've experienced lots of lower back pain, majorly reduced ability in daily activity. I do not take any prescription pills for the pain or tightness in my back or other pain. I never did. I stuck with ibuprofin or other over the counter pain medications. The only medications I take are for my allergies (allergic to my horses, of all things), my depression (exercising will help, I know), acid reflux disease, and vitamins. Before my accident I was a very active girl, standing 5 feet tall, weighing in at between 115 and 120. I would climb trees, ride horses, go swimming, enjoy day long hikes, day long biking. Nothing would keep me down, not even the two previous breaks my back experienced (one was a diving accident, and the other a car accident). I am an adrenaline junkie, and was never able to turn down any challenge. Right now, I'm finding it difficult to stand to finish a sink full of dishes. I'm still 5 feet tall, but weight 150 lbs. I have significantly softened up, and my lower back muscles cramp up after a 100 yard walk at a leisurely pace. I was going to the gym daily and seeing results, but pulled a muscle in my back and was down for a time letting that heal. Then my two gym buddies quit going with me, and I lost all motivation to go. I'm hoping I can find a few challenges that will get me to go back, and help me set some good habits into motion. Maybe even get my husband to exercise with me. :) My bad habits are mainly food related. I have a weakness for chips and salsa, and ramen noodles. Salty, spicy yummy goodness. I'm not much of a sweets person, but fast food is my downfall as I hate to cook and am not especially good at it. One thing I have going for me: I love veggies and salads. My husband and I will go to a buffet, and I'll eat the salad bar. Recently I have given up drinking soda, and given up caffeine. My personality is lazy (when it comes to cooking and cleaning), stubborn, high spirited, turbulent at times, and full of piss and vinegar. I love to make people smile and will do just about anything they need to help that is within my capability. I tend to buy nice experiences instead of nice things. I want to live life to the fullest, return to my former self where nothing got in my way and nothing kept me down. I can accept that I'll never be the physical person I was, but it would be nice to be a lot more active than I am now because I've seen people with worse conditions do more than I do. My reward upon reaching my goal: A breast reduction. I want to lose these 25 pounds in a few months, which doesn't seem to be an unrealistic goal. I can do it! I WILL do it! Rawr! This is me, a 32 year old woman with a heart of gold, a will of iron, and a mind of steel."

Christina S Give your skin a natural boost -2 litres of water per day for a month Challenge

Contributorsilver Christina S Day 1: Complete. I've done this challenge before, and for the first few days you feel like you're going to float away, but then your body stops hoarding the water and it becomes easier and you start feeling a difference. While it's easier in the summer than fall/winter, remember your body needs that water! Add flavor by putting lemon, lime, or pieces of fruit in your water and let soak overnight.

Did 15 minutes twice yesterday (150 calories both times) and it was getting easier. Did 15 minutes (150 calories) this morning between work, and it was hard not to say, "I'll make it up later" but I finished all my time and calories. This morning was hard because I'm on a time crunch. I'll do another 15 minutes when I get home from work again.

Christina S Create a stronger bond with a horse. Challenge

Contributorsilver Christina S Here's a few ideas for some training obstacles. A good place to look for obstacles is on Extreme Cowboy Race website, or on Facebook. Rock Creek Ranch in Kansas does some good pictures of their obstacles and horses being worked through them.

Brilliant Christina - exactly what the challenge is looking for!

Most of these are really easy to make, too. The tires can be junk tires. I put an ad on craigslist looking for flat tractor tires n tell people that I'll gladly take them off their hands and save them the high disposal fee. PVC pipe, pool noodles, small tarps are my best friend for obstacle building. I even invited a school band to come play/practice at my house so my horses could get used to the noise and sights for an upcoming parade.
