I started running about 4 years ago, simply because one day at the gym the treadmill was the only piece of equipment available. I was a sprinter in school and no good whatsoever at distance running, so now I'm approaching 'Over The Hill' status, I have made it my mission to prove that I can run far - even though I'm terrible at it and, quite frankly, hate it, something compels me to keep doing it. To date I have run several 5ks, a couple of 8ks, five half marathons and one full marathon (crossing the finish line was the best feeling. Ever). On my bucket list was to run a marathon before I was 50 and I've achieved that goal (with a little room to spare ;0)) Didn't think I'd run another one, but this year I was lucky enough to be selected to run the Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington in October, so training is back in full-swing. Hopefully I'll make that two marathons before I'm 50 (JUST!)

Amanda C encouraged this.
Francesca E I recently picked up a pair of Hoka Stinson Tarmac at a race expo (been wanting to try them for a while) and I absolutely love them! I'd been wearing Nike Free Runs for the past 3 years and while I loved them, too, for longer distances they just made my feet ache too much and running my first marathon made me realize I need more cushioning. Anyway, I came across an offer recently and ordered two more pairs .... Will definitely be wearing them for my next marathon!
Graham H thank you francessca for the follow and i am so happy for you that you have managed to change a perception, i get the feeling your quite kick ass and are really enjoying the power to change things that were "i ll never do that " to things that become " oh yeah i do that 3 times a week" you rock and with that attitude you will not need my luck and best wishes to achieve all your goals, but i send them anyway , :)
