Marco C Thanks for the follow back Michael! Keep up the awesome work there!
Well I thought it was about time to update my bio seeing as I have been on here since August 2012 and share my whole story!
When I look back now I am so thrilled with what I have achieved and it motivates me to share it with others.
It all started with a workplace injury in early 2012 that left me in constant pain even to do simple things like get in and out of a chair. The future looked pretty grim except for an amazing team of Dr's including my GP and my Neurosurgeon and most of importantly my Physiotherapist who never gave up on me and got me moving again and gave me the confidence to start exercising, just walking at first....well one thing lead to another and I was never going to be content with just being able to walk so bit by bit and depending on pain levels I was able to start introducing gentle running. Within 6 months I was back to full duties at work (I am a Paramedic, not easy at the best of times!).
My fitness continued to improve and my injury continued to heal well and wasn't aggravated by the exercising so I joined a running club and entered into 5k road race series finishing the 9 race series 4th in my age group!
This year has seen me train for and complete my first 1/2 Marathon which was on 5th October and managed a time of 1:52:14 and I have also entered into a 10k Road race series which starts 20th October and is also a 9 race series, and just for good measure a I have a 10k Fun Run on 10th November!
So all going well I would like to get a couple more 1/2's done and then start training for a Marathon in 2014.
I have never felt fitter and healthier in my entire life, oh and I just turned 50 by the way and prior to my injury I had never been a runner!!
So thanks for listening to my story!! And a special mention has to go to @janeh, @barryy, @candidab and all my other Aussie and worldwide friends for their endless encouragement it means the world to me!!
