Blueberry and peach breakfast smoothie

For many people the idea of eating a solid breakfast first thing can be very unappealing. If the act of relinquishing your duvet covers hasn’t already ruined your morning that bowl of nondescript Bran Flakes certainly won’t help.

If you’re anything like me the only breakfast that could tempt you out of bed is a great big greasy fry-up. However, there are two problems with this approach:

Firstly, I don’t have time to cook a fry-up; preparing a cooked breakfast every morning would require me to get up at least 40 minutes earlier and the mere suggestion that I might even entertain such a thought is laughable.

Secondly, my arteries would start to resemble the M25 at rush hour; it would soon become necessary to measure my life expectancy in months rather than years.

So what’s the solution? Well until next week’s blog it is undeniably, unequivocally and undoubtedly this blueberry and peach smoothie. It’s basically like eating a really healthy dessert for breakfast with a load of performance boosting vitamins, slow release carbs and protein added. Need I say more?

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp non fat plain Greek yogurt
  • Danone Activia Greek yogurt light strawberry 4 pack
  • 150ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 100 grams blueberries
  • 50g of tinned peach slices (discard liquid)
  • 40 grams old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

 

Method

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender.
