Green smoothies!

Undeniably, the natural reaction of any sane person when offered a glass of viscous green liquid and told to drink it because ‘it’s really good for you’ is ‘I don’t care how good it is for me, get it away it looks revolting!’

I was much same until I took the time to do a bit of research (I drank one) and realised that you can’t even taste the green stuff! But of course you still get all the amazing health benefits. Win-win!

Below is a recipe for a mango and peach smoothie with SPINACH!

If you don’t know why spinach is such a fantastic food then clearly you’ve never watched Popeye. But if a children’s cartoon isn’t evidence enough of spinach’s rightful superfood status and you require facts to be convinced, well here they are…

Spinach is renowned for its ability to restore energy, improve the quality of blood and increase vitality. This is primarily due to its high iron content. Spinach is also a fantastic source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C and folic acid. In addition, it contains high levels of manganese, magnesium and vitamin B2.

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 40g of tinned mango slices (discard liquid)
  • 40g of tinned peach slices (discard liquid)
  • 40g of frozen spinach 
  • 1 medium banana 
  • 200ml of water (or as required)


  • Put all the ingredients in a blender.
  • Blend.
