Tribe: the teams challenges for 2018

  • 3 min read

The Tribe Sports team is comprised of a number of sports enthusiasts - it’s where our passion for superior performance running apparel derives from.

To give you an insight into the team behind the ‘Explore& Discover’spirit that is channeled through our apparel we’re sharing our running related goals for 2018.

Laura - PR
This year I will be running the Dorking 10. It’s nothing particularly special but I like the distance - it’s long enough to be a challenge but not so long the training takes over my life - which is handy when you have 3 kids!

I’m also hoping to enter the Buff Epic Trail Half Marathon in the Pyrenees this year! It’s part of the Skyrunner National Series. I’ve never done anything like it before. The race features a 500 meter climb, a max elevation of 2619 meters and only two sections of asphalt. The rest is run on trails or high mountain areas, at times without any trails or paths!

Emma - Managing Director
After being forced to take a 5 year break from running I’m finally ready to get back into it! As you can imagine after such a long break my goals are quite modest.

The minimum expectation I have set myself is to complete a 10K before the summer with an okay time. I need to retrain my body and I’m not sure how long it will take for me to build up the distances again. I will most likely do something local to ease back into it.

I would also love to complete a half marathon in the autumn but I’ll have to wait and see if I’m up to it. If I did I would really like to do a big-ish one but most of the spaces are gone by now. Perhaps I’ll look into doing the Royal Parks Half or the Hackney Half.

Chris - Customer Service
So far in my life the only running I have consistently engaged in is running for buses and trains.

I normally confine myself to the gym but through a combination of peer pressure and persistent shaming my colleagues have managed to coax me out into the great outdoors and convince me - or should I say coerce me - into interspersing my weightlifting with a sprinkling of cardio.

I’ve caved to the pressure and agreed to run a 10k. If I enjoy it then perhaps I’ll get into the whole running thing.

Will - Social Media
I’d like to devote more time to exploring my surrounding areas. I’m situated right on the doorstep of the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which I’ve yet to really sink my teeth into. I can’t help but feel a pang of annoyance every time I run the same old route and look up to the hills and think ‘why am I not making time to discover what’s up there!?’.

I’ve done a decent amount of running around the Shropshire Hills (another Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and I always found a certain amusement in getting lost. There’s something very liberating about reaching a fork in the track and thinking ‘this place is beautiful, no idea wherethis placeis though’.

So this year I’d like to get lost more!
